Indore: From now onwards, mobile communication jammers will be kept low at the airport during the visit of VVIPs. A decision in this regard was taken to keep the communication between pilot and Air Traffic Control ( ATC) intact. A road would be constructed at Crash Gate of runway and the airport administration has sought the land for Cat- 1 approach light erection to improve visibility during fog.

These were few issues, which were discussed during the meeting of Aerodrum Committee held at city airport on Friday. Airport Director RN Shinde said that use of mobile frequency jammer by the state police during the movements of VVIP was discussed during the meeting.

Shinde further said that use of jammer spoils the voice communication between pilot and ATC, which is dangerous. CSP Malharganj TS Baghel said at present jammer is used to keep inside the airport premises, however, it has been decided that its frequency would be kept low, so that communication between the pilot and the ATC won’t be disturbed.

The information sharing would be continued during mock exercise with the NSG. A decision about construction of road by the IMC and the PWD at the crash gate, situated at the far end of runway, is also taken. The road will help the fire tenders to reach at the far end of runway in such cases. In case of such emergencies there is no road at all.
