Department to ensure quality products for consumers in summer

Indore: After taking action against spurious sweets and namkeen before the Holi festivities, the Food and Drug Administration ( FDA) department is gearing up to take action against soft- drink and other beverage shops in this summer.

The department is planning to collect at least 40 samples of beverages in three months but the officials said that they would complete the target in a month. “ As per the directions of the Supreme Court, the food safety officers of each district have to collect at least 40 samples of cold drinks, lassi, butter milk and other beverages to ensure the health of the people,” food safety officer Manish Swami said.

He further said that they would launch the action in the first week of April. “ We will complete the given target in just one month as it will take time for testing the samples at the laboratory,” Swami added.It is to be noted that the FDA along with the district administration had taken action against various shops and manufacturing units and seized a large amount of spurious food products.
