Indore : Although, no swine flu patient is undergoing treatment in any city hospital, the District Health Department continued to remain alert on the disease due to the fluctuation in temperature.
The department didn’t try to avail adequate facilities in government hospitals but increased the number of authorised private hospitals for treating the swine flu patients.
Integrated Diseases Surveillance Programme incharge Dr GL Sodhi said, “It seems that the initial spell of the disease is over as no new case was registered from more than week.”
He said that all the serious patients admitted in private and government hospitals are discharged healthily. The discharged patients also include a 17-month-old girl and also two HIV positive patients.
“Although no new cases are reported, we have inspected and authorised Medanta Hospital as another authorised centre for treatment raising the number of such centres to 19.”
According to the IDSP incharge, looking to the previous years’ data, there is a possibility of the number of cases may increase by the end of January. This year, more than 200 patients were tested positive in the month of January and February and more than 30 deaths were reported.
On the question of preparations in government hospitals, Dr Sodhi said that they were working on increasing the facilities but was mum on not getting ventilator for the District Hospital yet.
