Indore : “We have been raising the issue of illegal constructions in our area during Jan Sunwai. But, senior IMC officials are not taking any action against the BO, who is aware of illegal constructions.” “What should we do and where should we approach?” asked the residents of Lodhi Mohalla, who reached the IMC headquarters on Tuesday to take part in Jan Sunwai.

After giving an ear to pleas of the residents, Additional Commissioner Devendra Singh warned BO Sudhir Gulve of suspension if he failed to resolve the matter.

It is noted that the residents had been approaching the IMC since September raising illegal constructions in their area.

The IMC Commissioner in October 14 Jan Sunwai had offered to resign if problems were not solved. Even after such a tall claim, the problems remained same. Whom to blame? the residents asked.

Earlier, the residents accused BO Sudhir Gulve of taking bribes. It could be recalled that the entire episode took place after the residents made allegation against senior IMC officials of being corrupt.

Gulve was phoned numerous times by senior officials during the Jan Sunwai but every time he remained aloof, said a resident.

“We have approached the officials numerous occasion but nothing has changed in the ground. Meanwhile, illegal constructions are reaching the sky,” said Arvind Nigam, former president of the HC Bar Association, Indore, who stays in Lodhi Mohalla area.

Raju Rai, another resident of the area, added that the area is earmarked for residential purpose and now, a builder is developing commercial premises and no action was taken by the BO.

He further said that the builder had developed an 18-ft building that is entirely commercial. In addition, the builder, Gupta, had developed at least four similar buildings that are entirely commercial complexes.

Rai, during the weekly event highlighted that the commercial spaces are built right opposite his house and the men in these buildings are found creating a nuisance, either urinating on the walls or remain outside the complex, which forces the ladies of nearby homes to stay indoors. Several other matters were also discussed during the Jan Sunwai.
