Indore : DIG Santosh Kumar Singh on Wednesday announced plans to act tough against criminals irrespective of their affiliation to any political party. Singh made the announcement after taking over charge of office from his outgoing counterpart Rakesh Gupta here.
Singh, who began his fresh stint in the city by a meeting of senior police officers, told reporters that Indore is the largest city in Madhya Pradesh and maintaining law and order in the growing mini-metro was a challenge.
“No criminal will be spared.., even if he has affiliations with any political party,” he said. The DIG claimed that the status of crimes in the City was being reviewed. Efforts will be made act fast and effectively.
He said that he will personally monitor movement of police station in-charges and beat officers from time to time. “If required, I will also patrol the streets,” he said.
On recent spurt of crimes against the elderly, Singh said a strategy will be formed to tackle the situation. Suggestions would be sought from the citizens to deal with the crimes.
Necessary instructions have been issued to beat officers to ensure security of helpless elderly in their respective areas, the DIG added. “A system is being evolved to ensure that police is informed about the crime against elderly as soon as possible,” he added.

“I will cherish the experiences I have gained in the City. It was a pleasure to work with a dedicated team,” he said, in his farewell speech. He cited number of difficult cases his team solved over the period, but also said that police were yet to get to the bottom of many.
