BHOPAL : The two-day ‘Abhyaas Varga’, organised by the Bharatiya Janata Party for its first-timer MPs and MLAs at Khajuraho on Saturday, was dominated by the twin issues of Vyapam scam and rising inflation in the country.

The issue of Vyapam scam and the arrest of former minister Laxmikant Sharma was the key topic of discussion between the people’s representatives. The MLAs maintain that the scam had had a negative impact on government’s image. The hike in rail fare on Friday was also discussed in the meeting. The new MLAs were seen telling ministers that rising prices would lead to resentment among the public towards BJP and wanted to know how to tackle it.  According to minister of state for general administration, Lal Singh Arya, chief minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan took initiative in getting Vyapam scam probed and even a minister in the state government was not spared. Arya said had there been Congress government there would have been no impartial investigation. Parliamentary affairs minister Narottam Mishra, rejecting the allegations levelled by Congress in Vyapam scam, said probe is being done with full objectivity.
