Indore : Nearly 10 officers On Special Duty (OSD) at the Evaluation Centre of Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV) tendered their resignations on Friday, a day after NSUI activists forced Centre in-charge VB Gupta to resign from the post in connection with irregularities in the BUMS first year exam results.
The OSDs resigned in favour of Gupta stating that there is “a state of anarchy” at the university and that they won’t be able to work in such a situation.
Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya Teachers Association (DEVTA) also stood with Gupta and condemned the act of NSUI activists who misbehaved with him and forced him to resign.
Members of DEVTA held a meeting on Wednesday and decided that no teacher of the university would take administrative responsibility until an FIR is lodged against the unruly NSUI activists.
The act of the NSUI is captured on CCTV camera installed in the exam controller’s office where NSUI protested on Tuesday.
“The university administration should furnish the video footage of the incident before the police and should lodge an FIR against the NSUI activists who took the exam and evaluation centre officials to ransom,” a statement issued by DEVTA said.
NSUI activists had staged a demonstration during Jan Sunwai at exam controller Ashesh Tiwari’s office on Tuesday seeking action against anomalies in BUMS first year exam results.
The protest took a nasty turn when the activists did not allow Evaluation Centre in-charge VB Gupta to leave the chamber of Tiwari till he resigns, even when the processing of Jan Sunwai was over.
As the protest got murkier and some unruly protestors smashed the table glass of Tiwari’s office, Gupta put in his papers and left the chamber.
The DEVTA said that this was not the first incident of misbehaviour with the university teachers, who are discharging administrative responsibilities.
“Recently, the NSUI activists had misbehaved with Tiwari too. As no action was taken against the accused, their confidence grew and now they have intensified their protests against the who’s who of the university,” the DEVTA said.
NSUI activists had hurled abuses at Tiwari over the delay in results. Dismayed by the incident, he had tendered his resignation but the then vice-chancellor DP Singh had convinced him to withdraw it.
“If the university administration won’t file FIR against the NSUI activists this time, teachers won’t take any administrative responsibilities in future and will restrict themselves only to teaching work,” the DEVTA said.
