Indore : A stray monkey created ruckus in the zoo on Thursday, but no injuries were reported. Apparently the monkey was teased by the holiday crowd and peeved at their behaviour he resorted to attack the crowd in retaliation.

According to sources, monkeys stray into the zoo quite often because of fruits and shady trees and also because the zoo employees feed them.

Thursday being a holiday, a large crowd had thronged to the zoo and the little adventurous types, teased the monkey by pulling his tail and throwing gravel at him.

The behaviour annoyed the monkey who retaliated by tugging at the trousers of one of his tormentors. He particularly targeted women with infants, but fortunately no one was hurt in these sporadic attacks.

Zoo in-charge Dr Uttam Yadav admitted that the monkey is a frequent visitor to the zoo but was harmless till Thursday when the crowd teased and annoyed him. He also said that no attacks had taken place and that the monkey was trying to escape the crowd.
