Indore: Miscreants took away cash and jewellery worth of Rs 3.5 lakh from a locked house of a sand trader in Hiranagar area. The theft was discovered by the house- owner’s brother in- law, who reached there on Monday morning.

He informed the police and later to the sand- trader. According to police, the theft occurred in the house of Vijay Ankheda in Adarsh Maulik Nagar on Sunday night. Vijay’s brother in- law Sumeet Shivaharey informed the police about the theft on Monday morning.

Sumeet said Vijay was a sand- trader and was out of the station for some business work. His wife Preeti too left for her mother’s place along with her children.

On Monday morning, when Sumeet reached Vijay’s house, he found the lock broken and goods scattered inside the house. He immediately informed the police, which reached there promptly.

It was revealed that, the burglars managed to steal Rs 2 lakh cash and gold and silver ornaments worth of Rs 1.5 lakh. Sources said that the house is situated on a main road of locality and Hiranagar PS is at a stone’s throw distance.
