Mandsaur (Madhya Pradesh): Bowing to farmers' demand, the government has purchased gram from 14 farmers in Pipliyamandi. As reported earlier, farmers were left in lurch as they were unable to sell harvest after state government shut its portal on June 14.
Failing to sell their harvest, 14 farmers staged protest outside Mahaveer Warehouse. On Thursday, local Congress leaders joined them. They included Malhargarh Block Congress president Anil Sharma, Bottleganj Society president Dinesh Kothari, Narayangarh city Congress president Babukha Mewati, Block Congress general secretary Anil Mulasia, Bhuwaniram Patidar among others. Together, they staged protest outside the warehouse for more than three hours.
Succumbing to pressure, administration swung into action and asked area tehsildar Vandana Harit to visit the place. Tehsildar visited the place and redressed farmers’ grievances. Following administration intervention, farmers were able to sell 457 quintals of gram at MSP. Farmers thanked the administration for its quick response.
