Mandsaur (Madhya Pradesh): The Doctor's Day celebrated on July 1 brought relief for Mandsaur district as it came under Covid-free category. According to health department, no positive cases were found in sample reports of 511 people till Thursday night.
The only patient under treatment was also discharged. At present, there is no active case in the district. According to District Health Officer Dr KL Rathod, Civil Surgeon Dr DK Sharma, the health department worked in tandem to achieve this result. More than 1.61 lakh samples were taken in the district. A total of 9,062 positive patients were found, 8,978 patients were discharged after treatment while 84 died of the virus.
Now, the administration has turned its focus on vaccination. More than 305000 people have been vaccinated in the district. The first dose has been administered to more than 270000 people and the second dose to 35000 people. Cases of Delta variant have been reported in neighbouring Ratlam, Neemuch, Ujjain and Indore districts. Keeping this in mind, district administration has appealed for caution.
District collector Manoj Pushp has asked people to wear masks, maintain social distance and for go for vaccination. Malhargarh MLA and state finance minister Jagdish Deora, Sitamau-Suwasra and MLA Energy Minister Hardeep Singh Dang, MP Sudhir Gupta, MLAs Yashpal Singh Sisodia, Devi Lal Dhakad said second wave of Covid was controlled through public support.
