Indore : Kshipra police arrested a man for stealing gas from LPG cylinders here on Friday. The police also recovered 39 LPG cylinders and tools used in refilling. The accused is being questioned by the police.
According to S-I KL Mishra of Kshipra police station, acting on a tip-off, a dhaba was raided on Bypass Road and recovered an LPG cylinder from there.
The dhaba owner said that he purchased the cylinder from one Hariom Gupta from SR Compound. Later, a team of the police raided at Gupta’s godown at SR Compound in Lasudia and recovered 38 cylinders. Gupta was arrested and cylinders along with other equipment were recovered from him. In which 23 LP cylinders were empty and 16 other were filled.
During interrogation, the accused said that he used to get cylinders of different companies used for domestic and commercial purposes and stocked up in his godown. The accused said they used to remove 4 to 5 kg gas from each cylinder and fill same quantity of water.
According to the police, Gupta was in the business for the past several months and he has also not denied the possibility of the involvement of an insider who supplied the cylinders from the particular agency. The police have started an investigation into the matter.
