Indore : The wedding celebrations turned into a gloom for a family when a man died on the very day his son got married.
The tragedy occurred when the man was on his way to drop his relative at Bicholi Hapsi and met with accident.
According to police, Dilip Chouhan (40) a resident of Lasudia Mori village, was getting his son Lakhan (22) married. The family was celebrating with relatives. One of the relatives was Uma Gelhot.
Since Uma had to attend another wedding, Dilip volunteered to drop her and Tanu, daughter of Uma’s brother-in-law at Dewas and the trio were on their way when their bike was hit by a speeding SUV. They were thrown off the vehicle and sustained serious injuries.
They were rushed to a hospital where Dilip was declared brought dead. Uma and Tanu are undergoing treatment at a private hospital where Tanu’s condition is stated to be critical.
Uma’s husband Shankarlal said Dilip has two sons, Lakhan is the eldest. Lakhan’s barat had gone to Bada Ganpati and he was not informed about the death of his father. However, in view of accident, marriage was solemnised simply forgoing celebrations.
Lakhan was told in the morning about the tragedy when he returned with his new wife. He joined the funeral procession while his younger brother lit the funeral pyre.
Dilip owned a salon and was quite popular with the villagers. His untimely death turned celebrations into gloom.
