Researchers will arrive to study ways of making ODF .
Indore : The uphill task of making rural district Open Defecation Free (ODF) in just 4 months drew the attention of one and all. It is said that researchers from India and abroad would reach the city to study the ways of making rural Indore district ODF.
Collector P Narahari, while addressing villagers in Simrol on Friday, said that people not only from the country but also from abroad appreciated the effort. Through the social media people living in the USA, Europe, and several other countries watch our efforts and outcome and have appreciated the city. Now the rural district is stepping towards the concept of solid waste management and smart villages.
Narahari further said: “We have fulfilled the clean village dream of Father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi, who saw it during the freedom struggle. A mission launched in October achieved on January 25, when the rural district declared as the open defecation free. We have to keep a close monitoring over the project and again on August 15 we will check the status of the mission. Achieving the task in just 4 months has attracted the attention of researchers.
Now they are planning to visit the district to know the ways and means that led to achieve the task. The district administration is now working on making panchayats self-dependent and going to introduce self-taxation work plan here. The Zila Panchayat is developing software through which the panchayats independently can impose taxes and realize and ultimately generate financial resources.
