Indore : On the eve of Clean India Campaign from October 2, Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan has urged Indoreans to join hands in making the Indore clean city campaign a success.
Mahajan was addressing a gathering on Tuesday evening on the eve of launching of ‘Clean Indore, healthy Indore’ campaign of Mahanagar Vikas Parishad. She called the citizen not to throw the garbage in their locality. She also emphasized on the habit of awareness for doing so.
The LS speaker said: “We are permanent city dwellers, hence it is our duty to keep it clean. She cited the examples of foreign cities and how they are remained clean by their citizens. She called upon citizens to come forward to make contribution for the campaign. She also said that the clean city would help us in keeping ourselves healthy and free from diseases.
Addressing the gathering, Collector Akash Tripathi first administered the pledge to the gathering to keep their surroundings spic and span.
He also urged city dwellers as well as rural residents to participate in the clean India campaign.
Earlier, president of Mahanagar Vikas Parishad Ashok Daga presented a plan of Clean Indore campaign. He said that the campaign will be officially launched on October 2 by Mahajan and it will continue for one year. Under the campaign, the volunteers of their organization would make people aware by reaching their homes and shops. Five coordinators for the entire five assembly constituency are being appointed.
