Badnawar (Madhya Pradesh): Polling for the post of councillor in the local civic body concluded here on Wednesday. The voting for the 15 wards started at 7 am and continued peacefully till 5 pm.
Election Commission observer Ashok Kumar Verma accompanied by returning officer SDM Virendra Katare, TehsildarAjmer Singh Gaur, SDOP Sher Singh Bhuria, TI Dinesh Singh Chauhan, CMO Asha Bhandari and other officers undertook regular visits to the polling stations since morning. Along with that, ASP Devendra Patidar reached Badnawar and gave necessary instructions to police officers posted at the designated police station. Police teams have been deployed for conducting the elections smoothly in the first phase.
As many as 28 polling stations were set up where 17068 registered voters exercised their right of franchise. Besides, local leaders and prominent people were spotted casting their votes at various polling centres. 15 BJP and 13 Congress candidates are in the fray in the election. Apart from this, 10 independents are also contested from different wards. Counting of the votes will be done on July 17 in Badnawar.
