Mhow (Madhya Pradesh): The Infantry School, Mhow is all set to host the 5th edition of its Infantry Marathon, to commemorate the 77th Infantry Day which is marked after October 27, 1947, when the first Battalion of the Sikh Regiment reached Srinagar airbase and prevented the Pakistan Army from entering Kashmir.
It is an occasion that not only promotes the spirit of camaraderie but also pays heartfelt tribute to the valiant soldiers who serve and protect the nation.
The marathon has gained ‘cult status’ over the years, bringing together participants from all walks of life, including esteemed celebrity guests, for a day towards unity and fitness. Over the past years, the event has found its way into the marathons calendar of the nation.
Calling for participation from all around the world, RUNVEER 5.0 will be organised at Mhow on October 29 at Garrison Ground. Runveer 5.0 will feature both physical runs at Mhow & virtual runs where runners can choose their pace, place and choice of time from anywhere in the world on any of the three days (27th, 28th and 29th October).
The virtual marathon also has a 42K full marathon as a race category to amplify the zeal and excitement of participants. Several runners from around the globe have enthusiastically registered for the event.
When an Infantryman serves the nation, it’s an entire family that is united in spirit. Such is the legacy of Infantry that every person connected with the bayonet goes on to hold the baton of fitness and discipline.
Remarking such souls, the Infantry Marathon is hosting three brand ambassadors who will be there to motivate the runners and highlight the importance of ‘Fit India’.
Leading on the start line will be the legendary Major General Vikram Dev Dogra, AVSM (Retd) - the ironman of the Indian Army who is the first Army officer and only General globally to complete the Ironman Triathlon thrice.
Children of Infantry officers, actress Pooja Batra, roadies star Rannvijay Singha and VJ Varun Sood are also going to cheer the crowd with their robust presence and cherish their inheritance.
With physiques that inspire countless, both celebrities are not just fitness icons; they are a symbol of discipline and tenacity. Meet them at the forefront following the Infantry legacy of bravery and standing up for the Infantry fraternity.
