HATPIPLIYA (DEWAS DISTRICT): Chief of BJP’s Hatpipliya unit Nilkanth Joshi submitted a memorandum to Dewas district collector Chandramauli Shukla demanding a high-level probe in the blast incident in which two members of team of Paryavaran Rakshak were injured.
Joshi said that instead of utilising 12 bighas of land which is marked for trenching, the municipal council is dumping garbage on the banks of Bhamori River.
Locals are also disposing their waste in the bawadis and other water sources.
Burning of waste is rampant which is causing land and air pollution.
Joshi alleged that medical stores, hospitals and other health facilities are also disposing off medical waste without following norms.
Joshi asked collector to look into the issue as the matter has become the talk of the town and locals are in panic about the health hazard posed by the lapses committed by the civic body in garbage disposal.
Two members of a team of Paryavaran Rakshak were injured in the blast on Saturday evening. The organsation is running a cleanliness drive in the Narsingh Ghat area since June 1 and on Saturday evening, while the team was disposing the garbage, a very loud explosion occurred in the garbage heap. Two team members Yash Vinod Joshi and Harsh Rajawat were seriously injured. They called out other team members for help, who reached the spot and rushed the injured to the nearby Masih Hospital for first aid.
