Indore : M-shiksha mitra is an online application that was launched in September by the Madhya Pradesh government. The application allows teachers to mark their attendance online along with its key features. However, it also tracks the location of the device continuously during the hours that a teacher is marked present.
This feature of tracking teachers using geo location on the device has simplified work for the government school administrators. Head master of Government Primary School, Vijaynagar, Shantaram Panduan said, “There has been a tremendous difference in the punctuality of teachers in the school because of m-shiksha mitra.” He explained that without the application he had to urge teachers to report to school on time. Even after continuous efforts, he failed to get the teachers to report on time. With the help of m-shiksha mitra application, the fear of being reported late or absent compels teachers to report to school on time.
“Teachers didn’t understand the importance of punctuality in a school but with this app they are reporting directly to central heads,” Panduan added. He explained that the application allows government school administrators and teachers to directly connect to DEO, DPC, BRC and BEC. This feature helps create transparency in the working and forces truant employees to be punctual.
But the situation is not the same in all the schools. According to the online reports generated by the application, teachers are still trying to forge their attendance without being present in school.
The report generated by m-shiskha mitra shows 495 teachers who are marking their attendance while they are more than a kilometre away from the school. Some teachers are marking their attendance while they are 600 kms away from the school.
