Following the implementation of Model Code of Conduct FIR has been registered against six persons under the Babel Act in the district. Similarly, 65 complaints were received on the c-VIGIL app in the district, which have been resolved promptly. The beauty of the App is that after downloading it, anyone from anywhere can lodge the election- related complaints on this app. The app has been active from March 16.

There may be many complaints on this app after the nomination forms are filled. This was briefed in a regular media briefing by ADM duo Dinesh Jain and Ajay Dev Sharma here at collector office on Friday.  ADM Jain said it is necessary to follow the Code of Conduct strictly for free-and-fair elections in the districts. In this regard, not only continuous action is being taken by the district administration, but the illegal banners, posters, hoardings are also being removed on a large scale.

He said around 5,000 posters have been removed in the district under The Defacing of Property Act. More than 2,000 wall paintings have been erased. Since 11 March, total 11597 banners, posters, billboards and wall painting have been removed from the district till now. Wall paintings, banners, posters and billboards are strictly prohibited on private buildings during MCC.

He said similarly in the district, under the Traffic Act, action was taken by the Department of Transportation in the district after the investigation of 2384 vehicle owners. He said that under the State Excise Act, 385 litres of liquor worth Rs 1 lakh has been seized in the district. There are more than 7000 arms licenses in the district. All these have been suspended by the District Magistrate. So far, 12 illegal weapons have been seized in the district by the police.

ADM Sharma said according to the Election Commission, effective implementation of MCC is being done in the districts. The common man has the right to celebrate birthdays, weddings, festivals etc.  But after 10 pm, there is a ban on playing loudspeakers. This order will continue even further. So far FIRs have been lodged against two persons for violating order.
