Justifies decision of Varansi collector
Indore: Terming as ‘right’ the Varanasi collector’s move to reject permission for a rally of BJP prime minister hopeful Narendra Modi over security reasons, Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh here on Friday said that the collector had inputs that there was threat to Modi’s life and with such information the officer could have never given permission to hold the rally.
“The collector did his job but the BJP is politicising the issue,” he told reporters here denouncing such type of politics. He drew an analogy between Modi and Adolf Hitler and said that like Modi, Hitler was also a liar.
The senior Congress leader also criticized the Gujarat model and said that it’s not good for the country.“A model which had brought a state like Gujarat in debt can’t be good for the country. Gujarat is under huge loans and far behind on many fronts from other states.”
Quipping at the BJP’s slogan that “good days are coming”, Singh said that Tote Baba and Nirmal Baba also makes such statements. When told by the reporters that former chief minister Sunder Lal Patwa and other senior BJP leaders are criticising his love affair with a TV anchor Amrita Rai, Singh sidestepped the query saying that Patwa was his friend.
Singh had come to the city on a personal visit. He went to the house of Mahendra Singh Kalukedi whose wife died recently and consoled him. He also visited the residence of Bhaiyyu Maharaj whose father passed away lately and paid tributes to the departed soul.
