Indore : A local court on Friday awarded double life imprisonment till death, to one of the accused in the sensational abduction and murder of an engineering college student Gulshan Tejwani in March 2011. Besides, another accused, who had helped in the crime, was awarded five years of rigorous imprisonment.
Two other accused including a BJP leader’s son are absconding in the case.
Judge DK Mittal handed down the sentence and directed police to nab the absconding accused and produce them before the court.
Ravi alias Aditya, resident of Akshyadeep Colony, Happy alias Rudrakash Agrawal, resident of LIG Colony and Anshul Rajput had abducted their college batch-mate, Gulshan Tejwani (son of an electronic goods trader in Khandwa district) in March 2011. Gulshan was later strangulated to death and his body subsequently burnt in Jhalawar district of Rajasthan.
Police had nabbed the trio accused and one Virendra Gurjar, who had helped them in the crime, and produced chargesheet in the court.
Ravi and Happy had escaped from custody when they were taken to the court during hearing in the case. Happy is the son of local BJP leader Saroj Agrawal.
Before killing Gulshan, the accused had demanded Rs 5 lakh ransom from his family. The accused were arrested by the Indore police crime branch from Jaipur (Rajasthan).
