Govt gives clearence to land allotment for Medanta Group œ Setback for DAVV as it loses its claim on 50- acre land

Indore: The State Government, on Saturday, issued directives to speed up process for allotting land to leading higher education groups— Symbiosis and Narsee Monjee— besides Mendanta in medical sector. In this regard Chief Secretary R Parshuram on Saturday convened joint meeting of officers of all the departments in respect of State Government level issues pertaining to Indore.

The first issue raised during the meeting was related to land demanded by large groups. Collector Aakash Tripathi said the State Government had allotted 50- acre land to the DAVV about 12 years ago. Twentyfive acre each from this land should be allotted to Symbiosis and Narsee Monjee, respectively as they evince keen interest in establishing campuses here as so far the DAVV has not made any use of it.

There was a consensus on this proposal during the meeting. Later, issue pertaining to land demanded by country’s noted cardiologist Dr Naresh Trehan’s Medanta Group in the city was also discussed. Tripathi said that this group wishes to be allotted 25 acre land in Rau and 5 acre in the city.

The Chief Secretary said all these organisations are large groups and the process of allotting land to them should be speeded up. Consequently in- principle approval was granted for allotting land to them.

Set norms for 4 projects

According to the sources, the Chief Secretary directed the Housing and Environment Department to set norms for four projects of the Indore Development Authority ( IDA). These projects are LIG Link Road, construction of ISBT, developing small plots on Super Corridor for allotting to marginal farmers and giving shape to Sports Complex. There is problem in all these projects due to rules which have been discussed on different occasions during the state- level meetings.

The directives were issued by the Chief Secretary when this matter was raised again on Saturday during the meeting for ensuring that the set norms will pave way for implementing these projects.

Govt to bear 50% cost of Super Corridor RoB

A major decision that the State Government would bear 50 per cent cost of railway over bridge ( RoB) being constructed by the IDA on Super Corridor was taken during this meeting. This eight- lane RoB being constructed at an outlay of Rs 50 crore and it will be the largest RoB in the State.

Release of payment through supplement budget

Sources said that during this meeting, the IDA demanded payment for land allotted by the State to IT giants TCS and Infosys at nominal payment. In this regard, the Chief Secretary issued directives to make provision in the current fiscal’s first supplement budget for releasing payment to the IDA.
