Indore : For completion of pending works of Kesarbagh railway over-bridge (ROB), which is under construction for the last 8 years, the Indore Development Authority (IDA) will float tenders in November.
“We have taken a legal advice on the matter. Our legal expert suggested of inviting fresh tenders for completion of remaining work of the ROB. We are going by the legal advice,” IDA Chairman Shankar Lawani said adding that they would be inviting tenders for the pending works in November. The IDA’s decision will further delay in completion of ROB.
It is to be noted that the IDA is facing a contempt petition over delay in completion of the ROB. When the Indore bench of Madhya Pradesh High Court reprimanded the IDA over the matter, the latter had terminated the contract of the company constructing the ROB citing delay in completion of the ROB.
The contractor had missed as many as 17 deadlines granted by the IDA but all were missed.
After terminating the contract, the IDA had called fresh tenders for the remaining works, but prices quoted by the companies were quite high so work order was not issued.
With the ROB hitting a deadlock, the court had directed Divisional Commissioner Sanjay Dubey to look into the matter and submit his report in the court.
The Commissioner recently had informed the court that the ROB can be completed within 35 days if work on it is started without much ado.
He had suggesting giving one more chance to the previous contractor for early completion of work.
The commissioner’s report stated that re-tendering will take time which will further delay the work so it would be appropriate to let the previous contractor complete the remaining work. The report stated that the contractor is ready to give an undertaking that he would complete the work within the fresh deadline.
The IDA had sent the report for legal advice which suggested otherwise.
“Our legal expert advised not to engage previous contractor as he failed to complete the ROB despite many extension in the deadline,” Lalwani said.
