Indore : MGM Medical College administration and Junior Doctors Association (JDA) came face to face on Friday when the former gave deadline to the protesting doctors to return for work and the latter rejected it outright.

The JDA refused to return before security of MY Hospital is tightened. It also stated that junior doctors of all the government medical colleges of the state will go on indefinite strike, if any action is taken against them. Meanwhile, the trouble for the patients continued on the third day too and many of them had to return without any treatment.

On Thursday, MY Hospital administration once again warned the junior doctors to return on work and had given them to return by 4 pm. The deadline was extended later and now the hospital administration has given a deadline of 11 am on Saturday.

On the other hand, JDA informed the media that they didn’t call any strike this time and the emergency leaves taken by junior doctors were individual decisions.

“Junior Doctors’ Association didn’t call any strike this time but we cannot do anything about the insecurity felt by the junior doctors while working in MY Hospital,” JDA President Dr Mohit Naredi said.

Addressing a press conference, Dr Naredi said that instead of providing them security and upgrading facilities in the hospital, the administration has been trying to threaten them against punitive action.

“It is our right to work in secure environment, but the State government and administration have been pressuring us to shun it. We demand deployment of State Industrial Security Force in the hospital for security along with termination of the current security agency which has failed in providing secure environment,” he said.

JDA President also stated that all the junior doctors from across the state will go on indefinite strike if administration takes any action against them.

Meanwhile, Dean of MGM Medical College Dr MK Rathore said, “Mass leave of junior doctors is illegal as we have completed their demands. We will act against them under the clauses of Admission Rule 1915 of the medical college if they do not return on work by 11 am on Saturday.”
