Jobat (Madhya Pradesh): Facing heavy resentment from its workers after the expulsion of two Congress leaders for campaigning against the party's authorised candidate in Jobat, State Congress Committee has asked the duo to appear at the party's state office on July 19 and present their point before senior party leaders.
Earlier on Monday, the party had expelled two leaders for six years including the state Congress woman secretary Anita Gadaria and party leader Nirmal Raymond for their involvement in anti-party activities.
According to information, Gadaria and Raymond campaign against party candidate Hazri Ajnar, who had received an election ticket for Ward No 7 of Jobat district panchayat. Upset over this, other party workers raised their complaints to the high command and action has been taken against the duo.
Meanwhile, a large number of Gadaria and Raymond supporters claimed that both the party leaders were not allowed to present their side and action taken against them is illegitimate. Upset over this, many of the party workers tabled their resignations from the party membership.
Earlier, issuing the order, Congress's organisation in-charge, vice president Chandraprabha Shekhar mentioned a few points. He said that both women were found filing independent nominations from Ward No 7. This is against party norms. He added that even after several reminders by district Congress, both did not withdraw their nomination. Therefore, both were expelled from the primary membership of the party for six years.
