Meghnagar (Jhabua district, Madhya Pradesh): A section of local youths along with the municipality have taken up the responsibility of renovating Muktidham (crematorium) of Meghnagar, though funds were collected for it with public support years ago. However, no one has information about its expenditure.
At present, municipal council has constructed two funeral sheds. The local administrative officers asked Chief Municipal Officer Vikas Davar and engineer Sanjay Gupta to prepare an action plan for renovation, which was implemented in 20 days. This includes levelling work, which is underway by cutting the hill near crematorium.
Besides direct contacts, youths have sought funds through social media for the work. Dr Amit Mehta, treasurer of committee looking after construction work, presented details of income and expenditure till June 30 in which he said Rs 63,200 were received by committee while Rs 79,510 were spent till June 30.
District Collector Somesh Mishra reached Meghnagar on Tuesday along with Superintendent of Police Ashutosh Gupta to see committee’s work. Collector and SP planted a neem sapling.
