Indore : Traffic is one of the major issues of city and even the MP High Court, intervening in the matter, has directed the responsible officers to give relief to residents from daily chaos.

Large number of social workers and members of various NGOs have joined hands with the police to control the traffic during peak hours and to share the burdens of cops.

On one hand, members of the NGOs helping the traffic police could be seen at busiest squares–Malviya Nagar and Radisson, on the other, DSP (Traffic) Pradeep Singh Chauhan remained busy in issuing challans to routine office-goers instead of making the traffic flow smooth.

Along with 12-15 policemen, Chauhan was seen issuing challans to commuters when at next square, members of NGOs were seen helping the traffic cops.

In support of his action, Chauhan said: “We are issuing challans as the court order. “The High Court directed us to take action against violators and fine those not wearing helmets even after several warnings,” the DSP said.

However, Director of General of Police Surendra Sinh found it a matter of concern and said that cops should make the traffic flow smooth instead of making challans. He assured to direct the officials in this matter.
