Indore: Huge enthusiasm was witnessed among Indoreans on Sunday for casting their votes. People of all ages participated in the democratic process.
Enthusiasm for voting at the earliest was seen among people due to various reasons including social media update, for replying other question of vote and enjoying the whole day. Most people were seen taking selfies and photographs showing their inked fingers outside polling booths, irrespective of their age.
People of all age group were chanting the slogan of ‘Pehle Matdaan Fir Jalpaan’ to express their priority to vote before doing any work. Social media has played vital role in increasing the poll percentage as all the social media sites were full with selfies of inked fingers.
The rush in morning hours to vote was due to the habit of posting updates on social media. Avi Jain, a professional photographer, said posting pictures on social media is a trend now and it is necessary for us to post the inked finger on social sites. “It’s not only a trend but it also motivates others,” he said.
Meanwhile, many came to vote with their families as they planned to visit picnic spot to enjoy the rest of the day. Many preferred going to water parks in the city with family to enjoy the day and to beat the heat. “I cast my vote at around 8 am with my family and left for a family get-together at a water park located in outskirts of the city.
It was holiday for all of us and we utilised the day,” Jalaj Dubey, a mechanical engineer said. Another major reason for casting vote early was to avail discounts given by many outlets and shops. Mainly the youngsters exercised their franchise in morning hours to avail discounts in restaurants & other places.
