Indore: In an incident that rocked Aadarsh Indira Nagar, a youth entered the house of a girl and fired at her with a country-made pistol injuring her, and then he shot himself dead.

SP (west) Mahesh Chand Jain said that the incident took place at around 8.45 pm on Saturday and appears to be the result of a love affair gone sour.

Police said the accused, Navin Parmar, reached Mohini's house and entered her room where she was sitting with her siblings. He opened fire at her and the bullet grazed her neck, injuring her. Then he went to another room and shot himself dead. Mohini is being treated at a city hospital and said to be out of danger.

SP Jain said that Navin was employed as an accountant in a firm in the city. The girl used to work with him in the company when they met. Police believe that there was a love affair between them but Mohini ended it. However, the real story will come out once the police are able to take Mohini's statement.

Chhatripura police, who are investigating the case, are also trying to find out who provided the pistol to Navin.
