Indore: An elderly woman was killed when a speeding car hit her on AB Road on Saturday night. It is said that the car driver is a lady doctor of private hospital. However, the police have registered a case against the errant driver and started an investigation.
VP Sharma, in-charge of Rajendra Nagar police station said that the deceased has been identified as Leelabai, 72, a resident of Amar Palace Colony of the city. She was a fruit vender at Choithram mandi. She was returning home from mandi when the speeding car hit her near Amitesh Nagar on AB Road. Leelabai was critically injured in the accident and was rushed to a hospital but she could not be saved.
Man ends life
A man committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling under Heera Nagar police station area on Sunday. The reason for taking such an extreme step could not be established yet as no suicide note was recovered from the spot. According to the police, the deceased was identified as Naveen Pandit, 35, a resident of Adarsh Maulik Nagar area of the city. He hailed from Bihar and was staying with her family for few years. His wife found him hanging when she went to wake him up. Police have sent the body for autopsy and are taking the statement of his wife and other family members to know the reason of his suicide.
Three bike-borne miscreants robbed a woman of her bag under Malharganj police station area on Saturday night. One Sampatbai Garwal lodged a complaint that she was returning from Gorakund area after attending a function along with two other women when bike-borne three persons snatched her bag near Itwariya Bazaar.
The women cried for help and some local residents also gathered there but by then the accused managed to flee. The police are examining the CCTV installed around the spot to trace the accused.
