Indore: Three persons including a woman were arrested on Saturday for supplying drugs in the city. City crime branch seized brown sugar worth Rs 4 lakh from accused who are being questioned further.
Additional Superintendent of Police (crime) Amarendra Singh said acting on tip-off, accused Iqbal Khan of Khajrana was arrested from his residence for supplying drugs in the city. Following the lead given by Iqbal, 50-year-old Afsana Bi and her son Mohsin Shah were arrested from Azad Nagar for supplying drugs to youths and students in the city. An autorickshaw was also recovered from the accused.
Accused Iqbal told police that he has been supplying brown sugar since 2003. He used to buy brown sugar from a woman named Salma in Khajrana. He later started supplying the drugs. He was supplying brown sugar in Khajrana after buying it from a person in Azad Nagar.
ASP Singh said Afsana used to sell brown sugar from her residence and in Azad Nagar area. She used to supply drugs in small packets. Her son Mohsin is an autorickshaw driver and he used to supply drugs to youths and students.
Accused Iqbal was earlier arrested by police in similar connection. After release from jail, he started selling brown sugar again. Police are trying to know about the person from whom accused used to buy drugs for supply. Their accomplices are also being traced.
