Indore: Accepting that there are not many trains on Indore-Ratlam via Fatehabad section, western railway on Wednesday said it would recommend starting more trains on this passenger-heavy route specially when no train operates during prime time, that from 11 am to 4 pm. General manager AK Gupta said he would recommend it to railway board.
He gave this assurance while presiding over 33rd meeting of Zonal Users Consultative Committee (ZRUCC) held in Mumbai on Monday. Industrialist Alok Dave raised the issue of trains on Indore-Ratlam via Fatehabad section. At present, 7 Memu trains ply on this route but there is no train between 11 am to 4 pm. General manager assured to look into the matter.
Dave also raised the need of rolling out new non-stop trains between Indore and Bhopal via Dewas and Maxi. At the meeting, need of doubling and electrification of Indore-Ratlam via Fatehabad section was also raised. Jagmohan Verma, another ZRUCC member, said if both are completed, it will save time and money of passengers and railways.
At present, it takes 3.30 hours to travel along Dewas, Ujjain, Nagada and Ratlam. Via Fatehabad route, this distance can be covered in two hours. The demand for increasing frequency of Mhow-Rewa train was also made at the meeting. Other demands were installing new Indore-Dahod rail line and gauge conversion of Mhow-Khandwa track.
