Indore: On the eve of exams for Ayush and paramedical courses in medical colleges across the state, MP Medical Science University (MPMSU) on Thursday came up with a quirky message for students: “Those who have filled examination forms but do not want to appear in exams, they can take special exams (later on).”
Reflecting on the notification, that seems to have been taken straight out of Ripley’s ‘Believe it or Not’ book, MPMSU vice-chancellor Dr RS Sharma claims “the decision has been taken in the interest of students.”First year exams of Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT), Bachelor in Medical Laboratory Technology (BMLT), Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (BOT) and Bachelor of X-Ray Technology (BXRT) would begin on Friday even though revaluation results of last exams are still awaited.
Similarly, first year of Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine & Surgery (BHMS), Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine & Surgery and Bachelor of Unani Medicine & Surgery (BUMS) will begin on January 17 and BHMS second and third year from January 18. Students of these courses too are awaiting revaluation result of their last exams.
Citing technical reason in delay in revaluation results, the notification states that special exam would be conducted after two months for students whose revaluation results have not been declared.Till here, it was okay and fair. What came as a shocker was the last sentence of the notification offering extra-ordinary choice to students complaining of inadequate preparation time. “The students who cannot appear in January exams can take special exams. Besides, those who filled forms but do not want to appear in January exams can also take special exam,” the last sentence reads.
