Indore: Verma’s land grab bid behind demolition drive, says Akash, demand CBI probe

Indore: Indore-3 MLA Akash Vijayvargiya on Monday shot off a letter to Chief Minister Kamal Nath seeking a CBI probe into ongoing demolition drive against residential buildings in the city.

Claimed that buildings were marked for demolition keeping interest of a select few in mind, he also promised to furnish concrete evidence to buttress his claim.

Later, in a video on social media, the MLA alleged that PWD minister Sajjan Singh Verma was behind the IMC demolition drive. He went on to accuse Verma and his relatives of land grab bid through this exercise.

“When I was in jail,  Verma said that he was ready for CBI probe into my allegations. I have written to the CM for CBI probe. He should get the probe ordered from CM,” Akash said. 

“I challenge Verma to recommend CBI probe. If he gets a clean chit, I will quit politics and opt for whatever profession he will suggests,” the 34-year-old MLA said in the video message uploaded on social media.

Stating that he came to know of Verma and his relatives’ land grabbing modus operandi in an urban department meeting at Bhopal on March 15, he said “In midst of the meeting,

I received a call informing that Verma’s brothers have got fake documents of a three-storey building prepared and they are hand in glove with municipal commissioner Asheesh Singh who is getting that building demolished.”

The MLA claimed that he made repeated calls to stop the demolition but to no avail. “Eight families turned homeless after they the building demolished.” Akash said that he knew of several incidents where Verma’s relatives got registry of old houses done in their names.
