Indore: User charges for households having composting units may be halved

Indore: At its council meeting on Thursday, Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) is likely to propose reduction in garbage collection user charges for residents who have set up composting units at their house premises. “We may propose to half user charges for those who have set up composting units at their houses for preparing compost from wet waste,” said a Mayor-in-Council member.

After a gap of nearly four months, IMC is going to hold council meeting on Thursday. As many as three issues, including issue pertaining to lease of Regal Talkies and approval of funds for Ganesh Utsav function and garbage user charges, are on the agenda for the meeting.

Leader of Opposition Fozia Sheikh Alim flayed the ruling party for keeping just three issue on agenda. She said that of three, two issues are for confirmation and one for discussion. She said Congress corporators would lodge a complaint over the issue with chief minister Kamal Nath.

On Tuesday, Congress corportors held a meeting and decided to corner the ruling BJP during the council meeting by raising issues like dog menace, corruption. This will be first IMC council meeting after Congress came to power in the state and is likely to be stormy.
