City crime branch on Friday nabbed two persons with 2,200 pills of regulated drug (not to be sold without doctor’s prescription) on Friday. They used to bring pills from Bhopal and Jabalpur to supply them in the city. According to Additional Superintendent of Police (crime) Amarendra, police received information that some local people are involved in supplying alprazolam and other pills in the city. The crime branch team, which was keeping an eye on such people, detained a person from Raoji Bazaar area who was roaming with alprazolam pills (regulated drug).
The accused has been identified as Basant Mehra alias Saleem Sheikh of Raoji Bazaar. During search, 1100 pills of alprazolam were recovered from him. He could not produce documents or license for the drug. He was later handed over to Raoji Bazaar police station where he was booked under NDPS Act. Accused told police that he used to bring pills from other places to supply them in the city. He was doing it for past five months.
Accused Basant told police that he had sold huge quantities of alprazolam pills to a person named Riyaz Khan of Pardeshipura to supply them to criminals. Following the lead given by Basan, crime branch team raided a place in Pardeshipura area and arrested Riyaz and recovered 1100 pills of alprazolam from him. The people who bought alprazolam pills from the accused are also being searched by the police.
