Indore: The traders and tax consultants of the city under the umbrella of GST Struggle Committee have expressed firm resolve to fight for simplified GST returns.

They said that the present format of the annual returns GSTR-9 and GSTR-9C is not acceptable at all. Their primary demand is that the government should make necessary amendments in existing returns by issuing their simplified forms in accordance with the assurances and promises. Till then these should be postponed.

The emergency meeting of the GST Struggle Committee was convened at ILVA School on Friday evening to discuss the measures to fight against the discrepancies of GST.

Ramesh Khandelwal, president of the committee said, “Of course, since the GST law has been enacted in the country, many types of problems have cropped up and existing in the shape of the mountain till today. The traders stand is unheard and solution has not been found by the government or the council till date.”

Sushil Surekha, secretary of the committee said, “We strongly oppose the wide and complex nature of GST Annual Returns GSTR9 and 9C released currently. Our primary demand is that the government should make necessary amendments in these returns, by issuing them their simplified forms.”

Ashwin Lakhotiya, media incharge of the committee said since the implementation of the GST in the country since July 1, 2017, many types of technical and practical problems of the GST have yet not resolved.

For this, we have informed the government and the council at our level through written memorandum, most of which have also been properly diagnosed, but still many such problems are known, in the pursuit of justice, which need to be resolved.”

Ajit Singh Narang, president of Malwa Chamber of Commerce said, “Can we present such a simplified format for the GST Annual Returns before the government, which will not affect revenue of the government and easily filled up format should be released.”

CA Sunil P Jain, GST expert said, “In the current GST Annual Returns, many types of unwanted information are being sought which were not sought in any of the earlier submitted returns.

These are inappropriate because traders have not kept these information earlier. Now it is not fair to ask for it a sudden.” AK Gaur, CTPA president also address in the meeting.
