Residents feel insecure as it is 2.5Km away from colony

Indore: The new police station for Tilak Nagar failed to instil confidence among the residents as it is established 2.5 km away from the area. The new police station, set up in rental building near service lane in Scheme No 94 near Shanti Nagar, Pipliya Hana was inaugurated on Friday.

MLA Mahendra Hardia, ADGP Ajay Kumar Sharma and Harinarayanachari Mishra inaugurated the new police station in the presence of Nagar Suraksha Samiti members and residents.

Colony residents said the new police station should have been in nearby area of Tilak Nagar so that residents of nearby colonies like Goyal Nagar, Tilak Nagar Extension, Bakhtawarram Nagar, Girdhar Nagar, Vandana Nagar, etc could be benefitted.

Residents of these colonies often face crimes like chain snatching, duping of elderly persons and thefts. Recently some fake policemen had duped some elderly persons in Samvid Nagar. The residents have been demanding a police station in their area.

Meanwhile, police officials concerned said that at present the department could not get sufficient space in the colony, therefore the new police station was opened in Scheme No 94.

“When we get proper place in the area, we will shift the police station,” they said. Member of Nagar Suraksha Samiti Rajesh Jain said that with the efforts of Samiti members, a police chowki was established at Tilak Nagar main road and if police officials had contacted them, they could have arranged proper place for the police station in nearby areas of Tilak Nagar.
