Indore: The temperature, which was reeling over 40 degrees Celsius for last two days, dropped by two degrees on Sunday but failed to offer relief from hot and dry weather. The city recorded maximum temperature of 38.5 degrees Celsius on Sunday, which was two degrees above normal but below two degrees recorded on Saturday. The night temperature at 22.1 degrees Celsius too was above normal. The weather department said hot winds will continue to blow in coming days. Regional meteorological department officials said there are no chances of relief.

“There is no chance of sharp fall in temperature in next 48 hours. Sudden increase in temperature was due to western disturbance in northern part of country. Now, it is becoming normal and the northern areas have seen clouds due to which the temperature dropped,” a department official said. The day temperature continued to hover over 40 degrees Celsius in last two days and it touched 40.3 degrees Celsius on Friday, which was three degrees above normal.

The hot weather prevented people to move out. Hot winds gripped the city, which resulted in less traffic on roads in the afternoon. Keeping in view the hot weather, health department has been planning to start special clinics at all government hospitals to treat patients complaining of dehydration. MGM Medical College administration too will organise workshop on dehydration to share information on its cause, prevention and treatment.
