Indore: Unable to bear the pain of her son’s death, a 30-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide by jumping in front of a speeding train with the body of her son in Rajendra Nagar area Friday. Her 7- year-old child died due to prolonged illness at the hospital. The incident took place on tracks near Nalanda Parisar around 12.30 pm.

President of Teen Imli area reached the “death tracks” with son body and reportedly jumped before the speeding train. The locals immediately informed the police. Rajendra Nagar police station in-charge Sunil Sharma said Aarti hailed from Khurai in Sagar district and was staying here with husband Vishwanath and son Rupendra in a rented accommodation in the city for the past few months.

Husband Vishwanath told the police that Rupendra was unwell for a few days. On Friday, when Rupendra’s condition deteriorated, he arranged for his son’s hospital visit along with Aarti and left for work. Aarti took Rupendra to Chacha Nehru Hospital where the little child died during treatment.

Hearing the news of her only son’s death, Aarti went into a shock. The numb woman saw no sense and meaning of living without her son. She carried the body to the tracks and waited for the “signal of death”. Before she took the “plunge”, she made the “last” phone call to her husband and told him about their son’s death.

She also told him not to search for her. Vishwanath rushed to the but in vain… his wife AArti had long left the spot with little Rependra’s body. Police recovered a mobile phone from near the body through which the deceased could be identified. After the post-mortem, police handed over the bodies to Vishwanath and started an investigation into the case.
