While it issues advisory to students every year asking them not to take admission in unaffiliated colleges, the state government is set to enroll students for 2019-2020 in institutes that don’t have affiliation.  The department of higher education (DHE) has issued schedule for admission in teacher education courses including BEd, BPEd, MEd, and MPEd.  As per schedule, the registration for first counselling of BEd will start on April 4 and admissions will be allocated in colleges on April 25.

Interestingly, the department is commencing admission process for BEd without taking information from universities about affiliation of colleges. As per information, not even one BEd college has been granted affiliation in the state so far. There are around 60 BEd colleges under DAVV.

DAVV stated that affiliation has not been granted as the colleges have not applied for it. “Once they apply, we will start process for granting affiliation,” Ajay Verma, deputy registrar (academic) at DAVV. Every year, the department used to take list of university-affiliated BEd col leges and then start admission process but this year it overlooked the set procedure. Same is the case with BPEd, MEd, and MPEd courses.

DAVV to hold CET before June 10
DAVV, which had planned to hold common entrance test (CET) in the first week of May, has now deferred the plan. “We now have planned to hold CET in June. The entrance exam will be held before June 10,” DAVV admission cell incharge VB Gupta said. Gupta said university would issue notification for CET in a week or so.
The CET is DAVV’s national-level exam, which is conducted in online mode in 28 cities. Through CET, the DAVV fills 2,600 seats in different teaching departments.

Guidelines for conventional courses soon
The department would release guidelines for conventional courses soon. Higher education minister Jitu Patwari said they would release guidelines for admission in BA, BSc, BCom, BHSc, BA LLB and other courses. The admissions in colleges are granted through centralised online admission counselling. This online admission, launched by BJP government, was opposed by Congress. But after Congress came to power, it decided to stick to online process.
