City crime branch police on Friday arrested a person for lifting bikes and committing thefts. Stolen goods worth lakhs of rupees and 10 two-wheelers were recovered from him. Accused also admitted to stealing passengers’ bags in the trains. Additional Superintendent of Police (crime) Amarendra Singh said Pawan Jasodiya, who was earlier arrested by Banganga, Tukoganj and Hira Nagar police station staff for involvement in theft, loot and keeping weapons illegally, was also involved in thefts and bike lifting cases in Kanadiya.
After information, crime branch team along with Kanadiya police station staff swung into action and arrested accused Pawan while he was moving in Kanadiya on stolen bike. During questioning, the accused informed that he stays at Tigariya Badshah and had stolen bike from Ujjain a few days ago. He also admitted to committing theft at house of deputy commandant of Indian Coast Guard in Manavta Nagar and three other thefts in Kanadiya police station jurisdiction in past four months.
Following lead given by the accused, police have recovered gold and silver ornaments and other valuables worth Rs 10 lakh from him. Accused further informed the police that he used to steal valuables of passengers on bus stand and during journey in the trains. Later, police recovered 20 mobile phones from the accused. He also stole two wheelers from the various parts of the city. Police recovered 10 two-wheelers which were stolen from Sanwer, Chhoti Gwaltoli, Annapurna and GRP, Nagjhiri and Kotwali areas of Ujjain. Accused Pawan who was earlier arrested was released from jail in April 2018 after which he started committing thefts. He attacked an inmate during his jail term. He doesn’t live with his family.
