Indore: After hearing a petition filed by residents of the locality, Indore bench of Madhya Pradesh High Court on Friday put a stay on dumping of garbage at a sub-station near Lalbagh.
“The court granted stay till next hearing in the case,” said Manish Yadav, counsel of the petitioners.
Indore municipal corporation had set up a sub-station near Lalbagh for collection of garbage, which would ultimately be transferred to trenching ground at Devguradia area.
Residents of the locality last year had moved public interest litigation (PIL) in the HC alleging the sub-station was polluting environment. They also claimed that the sub-station was set up illegally on the land belonging to Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).
In an affidavit submitted to the court, the ASI earlier confirmed that the land where sub-station was set up actually belonged to it. However, it was stated that the ASI later had surrendered the land to district administration.
On Friday, the district administration advocate sought time from the court to carry out verification of documents and the site, to which, the court stayed dumping of garbage at the sub-station till next hearing in the case.
