In the backdrop of engagement of tariff war between USA and China, Madhya Pradesh must eye to enhance the export of Soya products to dragon country and Iran. The measure will also help in increasing the exports from the state and also the earning of the farmers.

It was suggested by the visiting delegation of Federation of Indian Exporters’ Organisation (FIEO) led by its national president Ganesh Gupta to Chief Minister of the state Kamalnath in Bhopal on Thursday. A delegation of FIEO, including its Director General Ajay Sahay, Western Region Chairman Kahlid and MP Convener Suber Rampurawala, which left the city early this morning, met CM.

Gupta suggests CM that the tariff war going on between USA and China and also with Iran is an opportunity of for Madhya Pradesh to enhance its export of soya products to these two countries. State should send a delegation to both the countries to find out the ways of exports and marketing of our products there. In both the countries there is huge demand of soya products. It may be noted here that the city and Malwa region is leading in cultivation of soyabean and also in production of soya products, with multiple soyabean processing units.

Talking to Free Press, Rampurawal informed that CM looked positive in this direction and assured that the state would pro-actively work in this direction.  During the meeting FIEO offered its assistance to help the State to increase its share from about 1.6% in India’s total exports to over 3% in next 5 years.

Gupta also lay emphasis on the need for identification of more products under Geographical Indication (GI) and marketing of such products though exclusive shops in the departure area of international airports to start with Mumbai and Delhi. FIEO also requested for inland freight subsidy for all products as the cost of carrying cargo from MP to Jawarlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT), in many cases works out to be more than overseas freight.

The Chief Minister asked FIEO to work more closely with the State to help it to exponentially increase its exports. Nath assured that he will pro-actively look into the issue of freight subsidy and GI products exclusive show rooms at international airports in India.
