Indore: In order to intensify the fight against Corona, social media platforms will be used extensively. Also, social media influencers are being roped in who will spread information relating to the safety protocols etc and create awareness.

Dr Nishant Khare, Member of Disaster Management Committee of the State, floated the idea. A meeting with prominent social media influencers was convened at the office of AICTSL on Friday night. The meeting was presided over by MP Shankar Lalwani and besides to Dr. Khare Collector Manish Singh and DIG Manish Kaprooria and several social media activists were present.

Dr. Khare said in the coming days, behaviourial changes will prove to be a milestone in the fight against corona. He said, "To break the (corona) chain, it is necessary to create awareness among people for which we have to use social media. He said social media influencers can act as a bridge to reduce the distance between how people should behave and how they can be brought together to defeat Corona.

‘Covid adoptive behaviour’ will protect from third wave

Collector Singh said the most efficient way to prevent the possible third wave of Corona is to develop a friendly attitude among the citizens. He said it is essential to take care of only three things for behaviourial change. That is to follow social distancing, use masks when you move out of the house and repeatedly use hand sanitizer. He said by following these three safety means, we will be able to protect not only ourselves but also the society from Corona 3.0. Singh said mentality 80% people are currently being influenced through social media. Therefore, it is important that we use the social media in a positive way to spread awareness.

WhatsApp group Created to Disseminated official info

Social media influencers present at the meeting also made several important suggestions like creating a common group, where the authorized information should be provided by the administration. This information will be accessed by influencers in their own ways through all social media platforms. In this way, more and more people will be aware and hence fake news can be nipped in the bud. Dr. Khare, created a common WhatsApp group after the meeting in which factual information will be communicated to all social media influencers.
