Indore: Smart dustbin sends alert message to airport manager

Indore: For the first time in the country, smart dust bins are placed on trial basis at the city airport on Wednesday. The dustbin will send an alert message to airport manager once it is filled.

The city airport, which conducts highest number of flight operation in the state, added another unique facility at the new terminal building on Wednesday by placing 2 smart bins. These are placed at arrival and departure lounges by Bengaluru-based company, Four Mirror Tech. Its trial was also conducted at the airport by dropping some garbage in the bin.

As soon as the garbage level reached a certain level, the dustbin sent a message to airport manager- ‘dustbin ID AAIDEMO01 ID Garbage Level has increased. Please clean the Dustbin.’

Aryama Sanyal, Airport Director, said that the bins are placed on the trial basis, which would be carried out till Saturday. On Monday review of its performance would be carried out and thereafter as per the need these will be placed at the airport. She said that this initiative will further help in enhancing the level of cleanliness at the airport, which is located in the cleanest city of the country and our effort to incorporate the airport too among the cleanest airport of the country.
