The special bench of Madhya Pradesh High Court on Thursday will hear the petition of chief minister Kamal Nath’s OSD Pravin Kakkad in connection with searches carried out at his residence and office. Senior Congress leader and advocate Kapil Sibbal will represent Kakkad in the court. Sibbal reached Indore on Wednesday evening and was welcomed by Congress leaders and activists.
Kakkad had filed a petition on Tuesday after conclusion of the I-T raid, stating that I-T action against him was politically motivated. He said it was done to defame him. Kakkad also mentioned that the IT officials entered his house after breaking the door at 3.30 am on Sunday and kept him and his family hostage for two days.
His petition was moved to special bench of Justice Prakash Srivastava and Justice Vivek Rusiya. The petitioner has made CBDT chairman, finance secretary, chief election commissioner, director of investigation wing of income tax department and state DGP as respondents.
