Indore: Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College dean Dr Jyoti Bindal was shocked as she saw three children undergoing treatment on one bed at Government Chacha Nehru Children Hospital, a facility specially set up for child care. She paid a surprise visit to the hospital on Tuesday after receiving complaints against mismanagement in the hospital.
She expressed displeasure over poor amenities. “I was on surprise inspection to Chacha Nehru Hospital and found shortcomings for which the staff was directed to improve facilities,” Dr Jyoti Bindal said. According to sources, the hospital staff had shifted three child patients on one bed in single ward though there beds were vacant at the hopsital.
The patients were shifted on one bed so that staffers do not have to walk more for reaching the children. Dr Bindal reprimanded the staff for the act and directed them to improve the facilities by shifting patients on vacant beds in other wards,” sources said. The dean demanded to know why more sick children are admitted in Maharaja Yeshwantrao Hospital instead of Chacha Nehru Hospital.
She directed the staff to send a demand letter to procure equipments required to enhance facilities in the hospital. She also expressed displeasure over lack of ventilators in the hospital and asked the staff to demand them in the letter.
