Indore SEZ Q1-2015 exports grow by 27% in comparison to previous year

INDORE : Registering considerable growth this fiscal, exports from Indore SEZ has been to the tune of Rs 3919 crore as compared to Rs 2909 crore during the previous year, official sources said here on Tuesday.

During the first quarter of current year, the exports have crossed a mark of Rs 1174 crore as compared to Rs 928 crore during the corresponding period of previous year, that is a growth of 27%, they said.

The total turnover during the current quarter is Rs 1665 crore as compared to Rs 1233 crore during the corresponding period in previous year, showing a growth of more than 35%. There are 47 units operational in the Zone with another 6 units under implementation.

Indore SEZ Development Commissioner Ishwar Singh said that strength of Indore SEZ lies in the availability of land, as out of total available land of 1100 Hectares, so far nearly 500 hectares have been notified as processing areas, leaving a balance of 600 hectares for further development of processing and non-processing area.

He said that in order to have full benefit of SEZ scheme, there is an urgent need to develop non-processing area in the Zone by making suitable Master Plan of the Zone.

Vigorous marketing of the Zone will help in attracting more investment adding to the economic development of the region, Singh added.

With respect to Crystal IT Park SEZ, the only functional IT SEZ of state, as many as five units are functional in the Zone at present and four units are under implementation. Besides, three more units have recently been approved in the meeting of Approval Committee held on June 29.

Total export from Crystal IT Park for the year 2014-15 was to the tune of Rs 90.61 crore vis-à-vis corresponding figures of Rs 73.47 crore in last financial year and employment has touched a figure of 930 employees. The exports during the first quarter of the current year from the Zone are to the tune of Rs 27.43 crore.

As regards newly notified IT SEZs of the State, all statutory permissions have been granted by various agencies to M/s. TCS Ltd., M/s. Infosys & M/s. Impetus Infotech India Ltd. and the companies have already commenced the construction work and the projects are expected to be operationalised by mid-2017.
